Star Wars Episode I.I: The Phantom Edit

A VHS tape has started circulated around Hollywood which contains a version of Star Wars Episode I.  It apparently contained a re-edit of the original version, and it dubbed “a special corrector’s edition”.

According to posts on online forums, it represents a “better” version of the story than portrayed by the LucasFilm production released in 1999.

Episode I has caused quite the uproar in the critical and fan communities, perhaps best exemplified by the computer generated character Jar Jar Binks.

Episode I was nominated for 7 Razzies (the anti-Oscar which seeks to awards the worst movies of the year), and the voice actor for Jar Jar won his Razzie for worst supporting actor

There is even rumor that “The Phantom Edit” was originated by Kevin Smith (“Clerks”).
